Got to love the perfect, repetitive stupidity of Facebook's AI. It will keep on making the same fuck-ups perfectly, the same way, over and over again - and if it runs an interaction service such as the "review" or "appeal" desk, there's no way to get past it to appeal to the much more reasonable intelligence of an actual person with the power to actually THINK instead of just follow an algorithm.
Apparently you can't sell paintball guns on marketplace, including "paintball gear" - then your listing gets deleted and your appeals and explanations unanswered and denied. You can try to explain to an AI that paintball is a sport and that paintball guns are non-lethal and essentially toys until you're blue in the face - it won't make any difference.
According to it, paintball guns are lethal weapons (which go against the same Facebook "standards" which allow Nazis to post their hate uninhibited). The almighty AI has spoken. Shut up and sit down, puny human. Nobody can hear your cries.
Meanwhile, you can sell actual lethal weapons on Facebook in the form of knives, hammers and assorted gardening tools - but of course Facebooks' mentally challenged AI really can't see that - which is why you can find anything from whole chef's cleavers and cutlery sets to chainsaws and wood chippers on Facebook's marketplace.
Consequently I now have to figure out how and where to sell my used paintball kit - which is something made much harder now since I can't use Facebook to do it. Nothing else has the reach or sales potential after all.
I suppose I would've met the same blithering idiocy and American-branded anal-retentive pansy-assed thought policing bullshit if I were trying to sell workshop tools and dared to include (gasp) a grease gun? Whoops, I said the "g" word there.
Of course there's a human out there who built this monstrosity and who undoubtedly has several degrees and receives a high salary for his folly... an unreachable, untouchable madman with a messiah complex. How does someone apparently that smart turn out to be so irretrievably fucking stupid? That's one of life's mysteries I guess.
And there are still nutcases out there who think unfettered AI is a good thing? No thanks. At least humans can be held accountable for their stupidity or malice. Imagine trying to get an AI to hold itself accountable! Oh my gods - the thought of it - it'll never happen.
If it saves labor and takes orders from humans, fair enough - but AI's should NEVER be put in a position of any authority over humans.
Some fields should really be forbidden territory, and AI is definitely one of them.
Keep your shitty AI. In fact, you can stuff it where the sun doesn't shine.
Cheers!
